Outreach
Beyond The Brick is the name of the covering for the outreaches we do here at GodSong that touch our community and beyond. Beyond the Brick is a vital part of our call directly supported by Isaiah 58. We must never cease to serve those in need. Here is the list of current programs housed in Beyond the Brick:
- Adopt-A-Block: Our Saturday afternoon outreach to our four block area in Newberg. Through this ministry we get to bring Jesus outside the church building and build relationship with our neighbors. In the past year we got to know our adopted blocks through an Easter egg hunt, Spring pancake feed, countless dump runs, yard cleanup, Summer flip-flop party, Thanksgiving turkey boxes, Christmas goodie plates and gift cards, and countless conversations as we built relationships. See the Resource Center at GodSong for more information.
- Serve and Celebrate: The annual party in the park we participate in with other Newberg area churches. Serve and Celebrate annually takes place mid-September, look for sign-ups in the summer.
- SOW (Service on Wheels): Annual backpack outreach to local school kids, skate park outreach (a youth driven outreach to kids at the Newberg Skate Park), give-a-ways to Newberg and beyond. If you would like to be a part of gathering school supplies for our community or passing them out, there is always a place for you!
- Financial Peace University: The Dave Ramsey financial series led by Bill and Kristi Hagen. We have several of these classes offered periodically throughout the year. If you want to sign up for the next class or need more information email the church office for Kristi Hagen’s contact.
2010 Goals for Beyond the Brick:
- To continue to build relationships with our neighbors on “the block” through service and personal contact
- To purchase and fill 500 backpacks for school kids in need this year
- To unite with local churches and continue to grow Serve and Celebrate Newberg
- To secure our 501(c)(3) status for Beyond the Brick so we can begin the process of securing grants for some of our outreach
- To set up an on-site storehouse for items we receive to pass to those in need
- To see the skate park ministry grow to the point where the kids we meet are coming to Alive Youth
- To support Bill and Kristi Hagen as they host Financial Peace University at GodSong
- To continue to be a support and bridge for local organizations like CYFS, Love INC., FISH, Faith In Action, Etc.
