What We Believe
Obedience to the Holy Spirit- Like Jesus, we only seek to do what we see the Father doing. We acknowledge his right to break our rules and offend our sensibilities. – John 5:19, Psalm 127:1, John 3:8
Relationships- We are a community of friends with shared visions and values, driven by friendship rather than function. – John 15:14-15, Luke 10:1-22, 1 Peter 4:7-11
Inclusivity- We are open to anyone, provided they share our vision and values, regardless of race, age, gender or church background. We build unity and enjoy diversity. – Colossians 3:11, Ephesians 4:3-6
Like Jesus- We seek to be like Jesus in the way we do what we do. We desire a Christ-like heart in every dimension of our lives. – Phillipians 2:5-11, Romans 8:29
Deeply Rooted- We are committed to growth in God’s Word and the fullness of Christ-likeness – 2 Timothy 3:15, Hebrews 12:2, Psalm 1:1-3
Just- Through prayer, we will pursue justice and freedom from oppression for humanity and the created world. – Isaiah 61, Luke 4:18-19, Romans 8:19-21, Isaiah 68
Good Stewards- We take responsibility for ourselves, those around us and the things God has entrusted us with. – Matthew 25:14-30, 2 Corinthians 9:6-15
Sacrificial- We believe that a lifestyle of prayer is costly at every level. – 2 Corinthians 8:1-5, 1 John 3:16-18, Romans 12:1-2
Intentional- We believe that the Lord will guide our prayers and actions as we seek Him – John 15:1-10, John 14:12-14, Proverbs 19:21
Servants- We believe that we are to serve one another with our prayers, actions and resources – Proverbs 3:27-28, Matthew 20:28, Galatians 5:13
Vision
Our theme is: We Love, We Serve, We Worship.
Outreach is at the core of what God has called GodSong to do. Isaiah 58 is our road map. We believe Newberg and the surrounding areas have great potential for Jesus, but we need to do our part in reaching out in love bringing the Good News of Christ to those who are lost. We are also called to continually reach out to other churches to build the unity Christ has mandated, to bless and assist other churches to reach their potential in Christ, thus much more effectively advancing the cause of Christ.
Vitals
We Believe…the source of our beliefs comes from the infallible written word of God. We believe that the Holy Spirit uniquely, verbally and fully inspired it. We believe that God’s word is alive and working in the world today and it is the supreme, final and only authority in all matters of which it speaks. 2 Timothy 3:16-19, 2 Peter 1:20-21, 1 Corinthians 2:12-13, Psalm 19: 7-9
We Believe…there is only one God. Creator of heaven and earth: infinite, unchanging and perfect in holiness, wisdom, justice and love. Romans 1:20, Job 11:7-9, James 1:17, 1 Peter 1:15-16, Psalm 104:24, Psalm 89:14, 1 John 4:8, Jeremiah 10:10
We Believe…God exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Co-existent, co-equal and co-eternal. Matthew 28:19-20, 1 Corinthians 13:14, John 14:26, John 15:16, Ephesians 3:14-21
We Believe…that Jesus Christ is God’s one and only Son. Perfect in nature, teaching and compassion. He is fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin mother, lived a sinless life and gave that life as a payment for our sins. He was raised from death, ascended into heaven, where at God’s right hand, He interceded for His people and rules as Lord over all. John 1:1, 1:14, 3:16, Luke 1:30-35, 1 Peter 2:22, 1 Corinthians 15:3-5, Galatians 3:13-14, Acts 2:29-36, Hebrews 1:1-3
We Believe…the Holy Spirit comes to convict the world of guilt in regard to sin, righteousness and judgment. He persuades the world to repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ in faith, dwelling with us, guiding us and applying the truth of God’s word to our lives so we may be made holy and bring glory to our Heavenly Father. Romans 8:9-19, John 14:26, 16:5-16, Joel 2:28-29, 1 Corinthians 12:7-11
We Believe…that man and woman by nature are sinful and separated from God, but that salvation, redemption and forgiveness are freely given to all by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. When a person repents of sin and accepts Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord, that person is born again and sealed as a child of God. Ephesians 1:13, 2:1-3, 4:30, John 3:5-8, Romans 1:18 – 3:26, 2 Corinthians 1:22
We Believe…that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are given to those who desire to be filled and empowered for ministry today. We accept the full manifestation of those gifts by the supernatural power of God. We believe that the greatest of these gifts is love. Without it, we are unable to bear fruit that glorifies the King. Acts 1:8, 2:1-4, 1 Corinthians 12:4-7, 12:31, 14:12, Hebrews 2:4, 1 Peter 4:10, 1 Corinthians 13:1-13
We Believe…that Jesus Christ has committed to us by His example: Water baptism by immersion, a declaration of a life changed by the saving grace of God. The Lord’s Supper observed by those who have become followers of Christ. Mark 16:16, Matthew 28:19-20, Colossians 2:12, Acts 2:38, Mark 14:22-24, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, Luke 22:7-22, Matthew 26:26-30
We Believe…in the culmination of all things including the visible, personal and glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ, the resurrection of the dead, the transformation of those still alive in Christ, the judgment of the just and unjust and the establishment of a new heaven and a new earth: A Kingdom without End. Daniel 7:13-14, Mark 13:26, 2 Thessalonians 2:8, Revelation 19:11-26, 20:11-15, 21:5, 1 Corinthians 15:51-52, John 5:28-30, 2 Peter 3:13, Revelation 7:9-12
